AI visibility

How often ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Perplexity recommend your locations, which questions you miss and who appears instead.

More and more people ask AI assistants where to go: "best pizza restaurant in Brooklyn", "a good dentist near me". AI visibility shows how often ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Perplexity mention your locations in such answers, which questions you are missing and which businesses are recommended instead. Open it from Sidebar → AI visibility.

Every week LocalUp asks each assistant a set of local questions for each monitored location and records the answers. Results are for a typical logged-out answer: a real person with a search history may see something slightly different.

Note: AI visibility is switched on by your agency. If you don't see it in the sidebar, or the page says it is not enabled for your account, contact your agency.

Queries

The list starts with the questions where you are mentioned least — the best place to start improving. Switch between All, Not mentioned and Mentioned above the table.

Click a question to read the answers: the text of each run, with your business and competitors highlighted, and the sources the assistant cited.

Score, mention rate and position

  • Mention rate — the share of answers that name your location.
  • Average position — where you appear in the list when you are mentioned (1 = first).
  • Visibility score — combines both: being mentioned often and near the top gives a high score.
  • Share of voice — your mentions compared with all businesses mentioned in the same answers.

With fewer than 10 answers in the period the cards say Not enough data instead of numbers.

When the page is empty

  • Monitoring is on — the first results arrive after the first scan. Answers are being collected; this usually takes less than an hour.
  • Monitoring is not on yet — no location is monitored. Click Enable for locations and choose locations, or ask your agency.

Answer texts and competitor names

Your agency decides whether you can read the answer texts and competitor names. When they are hidden, the page shows the scores only and says that your agency has hidden them.

Dashboard card

The AI visibility card on the dashboard shows your current score, its change over the last four weeks and the question you are missing most often. Click Open AI visibility to go to this page.
