How-to

Schedule a post

Create a Google Business Profile post for one or many locations and publish it now or at a chosen time.

This guide walks you through creating a post with the post wizard and publishing it right away or on a later date. One post can go to many locations at once.

Before you start:

  • Posts must be enabled for your account (the Posts item is in the sidebar).
  • The locations must be linked to Google and their Google account must be connected. Locations whose Google account is disconnected can't receive posts.

Steps

  1. Open Locations → Posts and click New post. The wizard has three steps: Locations, Type & content and Schedule.
  2. On the Locations step, pick the locations that should get the post. The counter shows how many are selected. Click Next.
  3. If a warning says some selected locations can't receive posts, their Google account is disconnected. Click Remove from selection, or leave them — they will be skipped when you save.
  4. On the Type & content step, choose the Post type:
    • Update — general announcement
    • Event — date/time-bound
    • Offer — coupon & deal
    • Alert — covid/weather/utility
  5. Fill in the content:
    • Title — required for events and offers. For updates and alerts it is optional and is only used to label the post in LocalUp; it is not shown on Google.
    • Body — the post text. It is required.
    • Media — upload an image or video, or paste an image URL.
    • For an event, set Event start and Event end.
    • For an offer, optionally add a Coupon code, a Redeem URL and Terms & conditions.
    • Call to action — the button customers see on Google (Book, Order online, Shop, Learn more, Sign up, Call now or No button). For every button except Call now, enter the Action URL.
  6. Click Next. If Next is disabled, the hint under the form tells you what is missing.
  7. On the Schedule step, set Publish on. It defaults to now. The time is shown in the location's time zone; if the selected locations are in different time zones, it is shown in your browser's time zone.
  8. Optionally set Auto-delete on — the date when the post is removed.
  9. Click Create post.

Tip: Leave Publish on empty to save the post as a draft. A draft is not sent to Google until you give it a publish time.

Media requirements

When you upload a file in the post editor:

  • Images: JPG or PNG, up to 5 MB, at least 250×250 px.
  • Videos: MP4, up to 75 MB and 30 seconds.

Write the post with AI

If AI is available for your account, the Type & content step has a Write with AI button. It opens an assistant where you describe the post or pick a template (Weekend special, New menu item, Holiday hours, Live event). Click Apply to form to insert the draft, then edit it as needed. Each draft uses 1 AI credit — see AI credits.

The draft language is picked in this order:

  1. A language you name in the request — for example "write it in Polish".
  2. The language you write the request in.
  3. The language of the selected locations' Business Profile.
  4. The language of your cabinet.

A very short request (for example "pizza promo") doesn't show a language, so the draft uses the location language. Templates always use the location language.

Generate an image

Generate image with AI opens the image generator. Describe the image (or click Use post text as prompt), pick a style and click Generate. An image usually takes 20–40 seconds; the counter under the button shows how long it has been running. The image is saved and set as the post image. Each image uses 5 AI credits. If generation fails, the reason appears under the button — no AI key set up, no credits left, too many images in a short time, or a provider error — and the credits are returned.

Check that it worked

The post appears on the Posts screen. Its badge shows Scheduled for a future time, or Queued · sending in ~5 min when it is due now. Changes are sent to Google about 5 minutes after saving, so you can still edit or delete the post in that window. After Google accepts and reviews it, the badge changes to Live on Google and a View on Google link appears.

Edit or reschedule a post

Click the pencil icon on a card (or click the post in the calendar) to reopen the wizard, change anything and click Save changes. In the calendar you can also drag a post to another day.

If you remove locations from a post that is already published, a warning appears on the Schedule step: the post will be deleted from those Business Profiles when you save.

Troubleshooting

  • "Events and offers need a title." Add a title, or change the post type to Update.
  • "Check the event dates." Make sure the event end is after the start and both dates are within the allowed range.
  • The badge shows Rejected by Google. Google's review rejected the content. Edit the text or image so it follows Google's posting guidelines and save again.
  • The AI draft is in the wrong language. Name the language in the request, for example "write it in German".
  • "The AI provider took too long to answer." Image generation timed out. Try again; a simpler description is faster.
  • The badge shows Waiting for Google reconnect. Reconnect the Google account — see Reconnect Google. The post is sent automatically afterwards.
