How-to

Add the store locator to your website

Publish the store locator and embed it on your site with a script, or serve it on your own subdomain.

This guide shows how to publish your store locator and put it on your website, either as a widget inside an existing page or as a standalone SEO site on your own subdomain.

Before you start:

  • The store locator must be enabled for your account (the Store locator item is in the sidebar).
  • For the widget, you need to be able to edit your website's pages. For the subdomain, you need access to your domain's DNS settings.
  • If you want to publish a whole brand, create the brand and assign its locations first — see Brands.

Steps

  1. Open Locations → Store locator.
  2. Under 1. Connection type, choose JS widget or SEO subdomain (CNAME).
  3. Under 2. Website domain, enter your domain (for the widget, e.g. example.com) or the subdomain for the locator (e.g. stores.example.com). Don't include http:// or a path.
  4. Under 3. Location source, choose Brand and select the brand, or choose Location list and pick locations.
  5. Under 4 and 5, tick the fields to show in the list and on location pages.
  6. Under 6. Interface languages, tick the languages and pick the Default language.
  7. Click Save & publish.

Then finish the setup for your connection type.

JS widget

  1. In the right column, find Embed snippet and click Copy.
  2. Paste the snippet into the HTML of the page where the locator should appear. The snippet contains a <script> tag and a <div> placeholder — the locator renders inside that placeholder.
  3. Publish the page on your website.

SEO subdomain

  1. In the right column, find DNS settings. It shows the CNAME record to create.
  2. At your DNS provider, create a CNAME record for your subdomain pointing to the value shown.
  3. Wait for the Domain verification status to become Active. Click Check now to refresh it. DNS changes can take up to a few hours to propagate; the status is also re-checked automatically.

Check that it worked

Click Open public preview to see the published locator. Then open your website page (widget) or your subdomain (SEO site) and check that your locations appear.

Troubleshooting

  • "Enter a domain to publish the store locator." The domain field is required. Fill it in and save again.
  • The snippet says "Save & publish to get the embed snippet." The locator has not been published yet. Click Save & publish.
  • The domain status is Failed. Check that the record is a CNAME, that its name matches your subdomain exactly, and fix the records listed under the status. Then click Check now.
  • A location is missing. With Brand as the source, closed locations and locations of other brands are not included. Check the location's brand, or switch to Location list.
