Glossary

Definitions of the terms used in the cabinet — from locations and brands to AI credits, scopes and webhooks.

The terms you meet in the cabinet and in this help center, in alphabetical order.

Access scope

The part of the business a manager or viewer can see: selected brands, location groups or locations. Owners always see everything. See Users.

AI credits

The units AI features run on. Each AI action — a reply suggestion, a post draft, a review summary — uses a fixed number of credits. See AI credits.

API key

A secret token that lets a program use the LocalUp API or the MCP server on behalf of your account. Each key has scopes that limit what it can do. See Create an API key.

Attributed review

A review left for a location within 10 minutes after a customer scanned that location's QR code or opened its tracked link. Used to measure review campaigns. See Collect reviews.

Auto-reply

A rule that answers matching reviews automatically, with a template or with AI. See Auto-replies.

Brand

A group of locations that belong to the same brand or chain. Brands are used to filter data, limit access and build store locators. See Brands.

Business Profile

Your business listing on Google Search and Maps (Google Business Profile). Each location in LocalUp is linked to one Business Profile listing.

Call to action

The button on a Google post, such as Book, Order online or Learn more, that leads customers to a website or phone call.

Filters

The Filters button in the top bar limits every screen to a brand, location group, country or city until you reset it.

Google account

The Google login through which LocalUp reads and updates your Business Profiles. If it disconnects, changes are not published until you reconnect it. See Google accounts.

Location

One physical place of your business — a store, an office, a restaurant — with its address, hours, reviews and photos. See Locations.

Location group

A custom set of locations that you put together for your own purposes, for example by region or manager. See Location groups.

MCP server

An endpoint that lets AI assistants such as Claude Desktop work with your data. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. See MCP server.

Monthly cap

The maximum number of AI credits your account can use in a month, if your agency set one. It resets on the 1st of each month.

Publishing delay

Changes meant for Google — edits, replies, posts, photos — are sent about 5 minutes after you save them, so you can still correct them.

Resource

In online booking, whatever a booking occupies: a staff member, a room, a table or a piece of equipment. See Set up online booking.

Role

What a user is allowed to do: Owner (everything), Manager (work with reviews and content) or Viewer (read only). See Users.

Scope (API)

A permission attached to an API key, for example to read reviews. A request fails if the key lacks the scope the endpoint requires.

Sentiment

Whether a review is positive, neutral or negative, detected automatically by AI.

Store code

Your own identifier for a location, for example a branch number. You can search by it and it appears in store locator page addresses.

Store locator

A list and map of your locations for your website, as a widget or a separate site. See Store locator.

Tag

A label you attach to reviews to group them, for example "complaint" or "staff praise". See Tags and topics.

Topic

A subject that reviews talk about, such as service or prices, detected automatically by AI. See Tags and topics.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

A second sign-in step: a one-time code sent to your email after you enter your password. See Two-factor authentication.

Waitlist

In online booking, the list of customers waiting for a slot to free up. See Booking calendar.

Webhook

An automatic message that LocalUp sends to your system when an event you subscribed to happens. See API.
