Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second check to signing in: after your password, you enter a one-time 6-digit code that LocalUp sends to your email. Even if someone learns your password, they can't sign in without access to your mailbox.
Before you start: 2FA is turned on for every account by default — you don't need to enable it. You only need access to the mailbox of your account email.
Steps
- Open the sign-in page and enter your email and password (or sign in with Google).
- The Enter the code screen appears. It tells you which address the code was sent to and how many minutes it is valid.
- Open the email from LocalUp and copy the 6-digit code.
- Enter it in Verification code and click Verify and continue.
When you join through an invitation, the first sign-in after setting your password doesn't ask for a code — clicking the invitation link already proved you own the mailbox. Every sign-in after that does.
Check that it worked
After Verify and continue you land in the cabinet. If the code is wrong or expired, an error appears and you can try again.
Troubleshooting
- The code doesn't arrive. Check your spam folder, wait a minute and click Resend code. Each resend makes the previous code invalid — use the newest one.
- "Code must be 6 digits". Enter only the digits, without spaces.
- The code has expired. Click Resend code and enter the new code. If too much time has passed, sign in again with your password.
- "Too many codes requested". You asked for several codes in a short time. Wait a few minutes and try again.
- You signed in with the wrong account. Click Use a different account to go back.
- You no longer have access to your mailbox. Contact your account manager.
