How-to

Read performance metrics

Pick a period and locations, interpret views, actions and conversion, and export the numbers per location.

This guide shows how to get the numbers you need from Analytics — for example a monthly overview for one brand — and how to read them correctly.

Before you start: analytics must be enabled for your account (the Analytics item is in the sidebar), and your locations must be connected to Google.

Steps

  1. Open Locations → Analytics.
  2. To look at part of your business, click Filters in the top bar, choose a Brand, Location group, Country or City and click Apply filters. The filter stays active on other screens until you reset it.
  3. Click the date range button and choose the period — a quick range such as Last 30 days, or two dates in the calendar.
  4. Read the tiles at the top for the totals: Profile views, Calls, Directions, Website clicks, Review views and Media views.
  5. Check Funnel: Views → Target actions to see how many views turn into calls, direction requests and website clicks.
  6. Scroll to By location to compare locations.
  7. To keep the numbers, click Export and choose Export CSV or Export Excel.

How to read the numbers

  • Recent days are missing. Google delivers metrics with a delay of a few days, so the latest days are not available yet. The note at the top shows the last date with data.
  • Conversion above 100%. Google counts views as unique viewers per day, but every click as a separate action. A customer who calls twice and asks for directions counts once as a viewer and three times as actions.
  • Views vs. actions. Many views with few actions usually means the profile is visible but not convincing — check photos, reviews and opening hours. Few views means low visibility in search.
  • Search phrases. Shows what customers typed before they found you. Use these words in your posts and business description.

Troubleshooting

  • "No locations to analyse". No location matches the current top-bar filter. Change or reset the filter.
  • All numbers are zero. The period may be too recent, or the locations may not be connected to Google. Choose an earlier period, and check Google accounts.
  • Search phrases are empty. Google has not provided keyword data for these locations yet.
